Link Party: 10/24-10/28

Last week I got to see Kanye West in concert and I am still not over it.

My freelance life has completely consumed the rest of my life lately, which is both a good and bad thing. October was one of the busiest months I’ve ever had, and I’m looking forward to a slower-paced November.

Here’s what I read this week:

1. Hillary Clinton and the populist revolt.

2. Bill Clinton and the legacy of the First Lady.

3. If women wrote men the way men write women.

4. The brilliance of the Saturday Night Live David S. Pumpkins sketch.

5. Why are there so many books with “girl” in the title?

And a bonus: If you don’t have a Himalayan salt lamp or an aroma diffuser, get on that ASAP.

Have a great week.

Link Party: 2/1-2/5

Sunsets, man.
Sunsets, man.

This has been another week where I don’t know where my time went. Sometimes I panic over when and what I post and feel guilty when I don’t meet my own deadlines, but I think the actual publishing act is truly what matters most. I’m proud of myself for making the effort to get my words and ideas out into space, and I hope you feel the same way when you do whatever it is to feel creatively fulfilled.

Here’s what I read last week:

1. I don’t want to spoil this fiction piece for you, so I’m not even gonna tell you what it is about. Just read it.

2. This is a very, very good profile of Winona Ryder.

3. I soaked up every single word of this short interview with Ina Garten. This is an Ina Garten appreciation blog.

4. This article about the Yves Bouvier affair and how he made millions of dollars through art trading is bonkers.

5. And on the eighth day, God created content.

And a bonus: I have this thing with decorated papers.

Have a great week.

Link Party: 10/26-10/30

Here, have a photo of a pretty tree I parked under this week. This is the extent of my photography these days, but I'm working on it.

Here’s what I read this week:

1. You might be a basic witch.

2. Baby Michel Foucault. (Side note: The Toast made me laugh a lot this week.)

3. Here’s another book to add to my very long list of books to read: “The Other Paris.”

4. The fascinating history of the midnight movie showing.

5. I’m so glad that there are business people who are still interested in print media. Case in point, Peter Barbey and the Village Voice. (Also, I am very upset about Grantland. It was a Link Party staple, and I miss it already.)

And a bonus: I have been thinking about this Vine for the past week. It is perfect.

Have a wonderful weekend.
